2008 Finalist Whitlock Ousted By Kleermaker As World Championship Enters Its Last Day Before The Christmas Break

Simon Whitlock’s PDC World Championship run came to a quick end last night at the hands of Martijn Kleermaker. In truth, Whitlock never found his best form despite winning the second set and Kleermaker ran out the winner with a score of 3 sets to 1.
Joe Murnan nearly caused the unlikliest of upsets as was at one point just one dart away from beat Nathan Aspinall. Aspinall however, showed true grit and rallied from 2 sets to 1 down to win by 3 sets to 2 in a very entertaining affair.
Dirk Van Duijvenbode made hard work of his third round match as he needed extra legs to be the 117 seed Boris Koltsov. In a match that ebbed and flowed the Dutchman found himself 2 sets to 1 down but managed to scrape the win by winning the deciding set 4-2.
Kim Huybrechts didn’t have his best game by any stretch of the imagination but managed to comfortably beat the Bronzed Adonis Steve Beaton. Both players struggled throughout with their doubles but the Belgians scoring prowess proved to be decisive as he ran out a 3-1 winner.

O’Connor Ends Durrant’s Misery In Quick-Fire Win

William O’Connor has set up a mouth watering clash with Michael Smith after a comfortable 3-0 win over the out of form Glenn Durrant in the second round of the PDC World Darts Championship.
Durrant never really threatened the Irishman and managed to take just one leg throughout. O’Connor finished with an average of 90 and 69%on doubles and will be happy with his performance winning 9 legs to 1 and 3 sets to 0.
Elsewhere Ryan Searle beat last round’s 9 Dart hero William Borland by three sets to nil setting up a third round tie with either Danny Noppert or Jason Heaver.
Luke Humphries set up a third round match against Dave Chisnell after making quick work of Rowby Jon Rodriguez in the Ally Pally. A 92 average was enough to see “Cool Hand” win the match by 3 sets to nil.
In the final afternoon game Joe Cullen came from 2-1 down to win 3-2 against a resilient Jim Williams in the most exciting game of the afternoon. Cullen now faces either Martijn Kleermaker or Simon Whitlock in the next round.
